If you know anything about Karen and I, you know we love false lashes. We seek out special occasions to wear new lashes and have been known to take a selfie or two simply to capture the lashes-- even before selfies were a thing (yes we are old).
Lash Selfie Circa 2008
We have always admired the Disney character lashes and it seems ladies around the world do too. Here is our round up of the top 5 Disney lashes-- with a special shout out to Japanese girls who seem to have this market cornered.
#5: Disney Villains. Who doesn't love to be a little bit bad? These lashes (most available on Amazon for $8.99) will have heads turning. It takes a brave gal to pull off some of these bold looks, but if you like to steal puppies or find yourself sabotaging young love at the bottom of the sea, these may be just right for you.
Bad Ass Lashes
#4: Daisy Duck. I have always had a strange fascination with Daisy's lashes. She is so glam and somehow ends up overshadowed by her BFF Minnie. While the US lash market seems slow in capitalizing off her look she is even hard to locate globally. This set was nowhere to be found (in the obvious places) online-- but I betcha I would find this in every major drugstore in Japan. Road trip anyone?
What? Nobody wants duck lashes?
#3: Maleficent. I know, I already mentioned villains. But with the recent MAC and Maleficent make up collection, this bad girl needs her own shout out. This collection is long gone, but you can find it for a price online. Amazon has these lashes listed at $33. An investment for something this fleeting for sure, but wouldn't it be fun?
If I wear these, do I get Angelina's cheekbones?
#2: Minnie Mouse. A lash list would not be complete without Minnie included. Search for Minnie lashes and options abound. Unfortunately, they all seem to be in the wrong country making looking like Minnie a bit cost prohibitive. I did find some fun ones on Amazon at a reasonable "add on" price. For $9.90 (with a total order of $25) you can get the Minnie lashes below. I'm not gonna lie. I just ordered them.
Japanese drug stores must be heaven
And finally, at #1: No lash list would be complete without a princess or two. My princess of choice will always be Ariel so I was thrilled to find the lash set below right down the street at my local Walgreens. At only $7.99 it's the perfect price point for a gal just trying lashes out for the first time, or some old pros like Karen and I trying to save a few coins.
These really should be waterproof-- I'm just sayin'
Did we miss anyone in our list? Let us know in the comments below. We would love to hear from you.
The countdown to Maleficent in theaters has been a long time coming in my house. My huge fan of the baddies daughter asks monthly when it comes out and here we are in the home stretch. We here at Best Friends have made it clear how much we love makeup, and when that makeup says anything Disney on it , we love it even more .Naturally MAC paired with Disney again for a Maleficent collection ~perfect timing for the movie release~ in stores and online now.
The line includes lip gloss, lip liner, brow pencil, highlighter pen , nail polish and...LASHES!!
These beauties deserve their own picture.
You can get the lashes in the set above or the 36 lash which isn't individual lashes. Either pair we love and are ordering for our next trip.
Pucker up for true loves kiss, Which of course is sold out. Angelina lips denied again.
Eye Shadow x4 in Goldmine, Ground Brown, Concrete, and Carbon
The sculpting powder , which I've recently become in love with , is also gone. I'm sure most gals were hoping to get those cheekbones and swooped them up quick. I suggest hitting your local MAC store or counter where you should have more success. As of today the only items available online are the LASHES!! and the shadow quad. MAC has free shipping right now so if you want those at least head over there right now!
Being redheads we are very partial the The Little Mermaid. Growing up I was often referred to as "red" - hated it- and you very rarely saw a redhead in the movies forget walking around Disney World. Thankfully times have changed and the gingers are everywhere and Sephora has even decided to give our favorite redhead her very own makeup line. We love...
Gorgeous

I seriously need to figure out a way to get the artwork on the box into picture form. I LOVE it.

I think this video would be improved if Davina and I were both in it wearing our mermaid attire, twirling our locks under water....oh forget it..Davina doesn't get her hair wet.
I know where I'll be in July how about you? Whether you're a natural redhead or not it looks like this collection may be the best Sephora has had so far. Now if only they had a dinglehopper.
Sephora has had lots of luck lately with glittery, sparkly makeup aimed right for the heart of Disney fans , so it just makes sense that they keep it going with a new collection due out in March.
Cinderella had her turn first and now it's time for Jasmine to take the spotlight .
Each of the different sets have quotes on them , which I think is so cute and very " Disney"
The "Three Wishes Eyeliner Set" says " Have a wish, or tow, or three" , the jewel tone polishes say
" Wish for more wishes"" and the super cute eyeshadow palette says " you're only in trouble if you get caught" .
shut your eyes and take a chance
The details in this collection are amazing , from the compact mirror, perfume bottle to even just the box the eye shadows are in. If you've always wanted to be a Jasmine, but were more like and Ariel , this could definitely help you out. I'm thinking I need a spray tan first, but whatever,
the colors offer something for everyone, even if you don't have dreamy Jasmine skin
It's time again for me to write about my two of my favorite things coming together in a way almost as fantastic as a peanut butter cup- Makeup meet Disney...Disney meet makeup.
Sephora is getting ready to release a Cinderella inspired collection next month which seems to be the trend these days. I'm sure it's to coincide with the collectors edition of Cinderella being released, but any time of year is a good time for new makeup.
This ad alone makes me want more
The collection includes a four-shadow palette, perfume and a sassy compact mirror that looks like a pocket watch ,shown below. The rest of the collection includes four lipsticks, a six-piece nail polish set, a roll-on fragrance, and a 20-shade palette inspired by the Disney film.
Don't be late !
It's also rumored that a Spring collection featuring more princesses will be a part of the Sephora lineup. If it's true I love them even more.A suggestion? Give Ariel her props. Redheads love cosmetics and she looked gorgeous even under water.
If you are A beauty insider ( you know I am ) you can get passes for a screening of the Cinderella re-release. The offer comes in a Sephora email
Villians always get a bad rap but at least they can say " Girl I look fine doin bad". MAC showed us before with their Venomous Villain collection that they were right and now The Disney Store is prepared to show us the same with their exclusive Disney Villian Designer Collection.
This September, Disney will be releasing a special edition makeup collection consisting of eyeshadows, nail varnishes, lip glosses and more. If you're up for it you can also grab a coordinating limited edition Villian doll to go with it, but I bet those will go real quick at only 13,000 available.
eye shadow set. Look fantastic
Shiny lips
Every Villianess needs a good mirror
These dolls look amazing. Is it wrong for a 39 year old to want them?
The makeup collection starts at about $14 and is at Disneystore.com in August and in stores September. Don't say I didnt warn you darlings.
I may be 39 years old but if there's one thing I love it's sparkles. Sparkly makeup with the word fairy in it has me swooning and fanning myself. Not for kids but for GROWNUPS - like me- is the Pixi Beauty line of cosmetics available on line and at Target. This is not your mamas Target makeup , as it looks like a high quality brand found in department stores that I love to get glammied at.
Pixi Beauty offers a “regular” line of cosmetics, and the PixiGlow line is a part of its larger collection.
Seriously, how cute is all this stuff?
The Fairy Face Palette is A whole face in a case - 5 eye colours, 3-colour blush palette, 5 lip creams and duo eye applicator, blush brush, duo lip applicator. For $34 it can be yours and you KNOW it's gonna be mine
There's a Catching Shadows eye crayon for luminous pixi eyes - $18.00
A " Straight On Till Morning" ( sigh ) liner- $15
Magic Tink Tint- Super-moisturizing tinting lip balm that goes on clear and turns into a pink tone . For the name alone it's a must- $16.00
PixiGlow Nail Color - $8.00
And yes....there is Fairy Dust - $14.00
Honestly I don't know how it took me this long to discover this makeup but here's hoping that it won't take you as long. Every lady deep down wants to fly with fairies and sparkle luminously. Maybe the next time we run into Peter Pan, he'll ask us to hang out with him more.
I absolutely LOVE Makeup . I am not nor never will be one of those women who just wakes up and can run out to get a loaf of bread fresh faced . Even if I was , I feel like I'd still feel compelled to apply some gloss, mascara my lashes and groom the brows. Everything about makeup makes me happy and I pride myself in having some skillz with the brushes. If I could, I'd work at MAC and walk around all day with fuchsia eyes and fake lashes.
I'm sure you can also guess that I LOVE Disney and don't you know that I found some absolutely amazing Disney inspired makeup! It's pretty amazing to look out and waaaayy outside of my skill level and comfort zone. Makeup artist Katie Alves transformed scenes from some classic Disney films into unbelievable eye makeup
The Little Mermaid- My Favorite!!
Tangled- Gettin some smoulder
The Lion King
Aladdin
The Nightmare Before Christmas- LOVE!
Alice In Wonderland
Snow White
Go to her website and check out the rest of her amazing makeup. She also has killer eyebrows that I envy.
The geniuses at MAC have decided to combine two of my favorite things assuring that I must buy their entire new collection. The new Disney Venomous Villains Collection launches September 30th and it looks fabulous!
It's an homage to all the lovely and heavily made up villains that Disney has featured over the years. No princesses to be found here, just the witches that torture them. Love it...
