She's Crafty, She Gets Around. She's Crafty, She's Always Down

For anyone who gets the Beastie Boys reference for the title of this post, I salute you. 

It's been awhile, but it's time to pick the Crafty Tuesday series back up again! This is where we find some of the best Disney related crafts out there on the interweb. Sometimes we buy these crafts, sometimes we just admire from afar. Either way, we like to share the magic with all of you.

The weeks crafty theme is "shhhhh, I like Disney". I sometimes forget that the general population might not understand my Disney obsession. So it makes sense when not on property (or in the general Orlando vicinity) to tone it down a bit. Wearing my mouse ears on the subway ride to work might get some looks. So I am always on the hunt for items where I can show off my #disneyside (see what I did there?), without coming off as complete loon.


I've got stuff fit for a castle.. tote

Commuting to work and need a good bag for your book and lunch? How about a castle tote? I imagine your fellow commuters not in the Disney know will think you have a thing for medieval castles. And that's ok... because you and I know the truth.

Little Mermaid colors are the Best Friends favs. Which is why this Little Mermaid themed headband makes me happy. Supposedly it fits toddlers all the way to adults-- which may result in some 4 year old girls giving me the stink eye for stealing their look. I will let you know if I get into any fights on the playground.

Those poor unfortunate soles... of my feet

I had no idea that this post would be heavily weighted with Little Mermaid finds but I had to include these Ursula knee highs to the shhhh, I like Disney collection simply because these would be so easy to pull off quietly. I imagine wearing these to work under my obligatory black works pants feeling like I have the best secret in the world. Is that a sea witch on your calves? Why yes, now sing. KEEP SINGING!!!!!!

Aside of the long lines for the Magic Kingdom attraction, Dumbo doesn't normally get much play as a fashion icon. Which is why I felt I needed to include this very cool infinity scarf inspired by the dumbo colors in this collection. Magic feather not included.

Crafty Tuesday is Back! And More Crafty Than Ever

I've been in a craft funk. But I'm back and ready to find the best handmade Disney swag the web has to offer.

My top three crafts are below. Craft on...

1. Disney Wave phone case ($15.99)

Can you hear me now?

If you have been on a Disney cruise you know that you get two phones to use around the boat for conversations like:

"Where are you?"
"I am at the buffet."
"I don't see you."
"I'm at the pickle station."
"I am also at the pickle station and I still don't see you."
"What pickle station are you at?"
"Oh for christ sake, there are multiple?"

If you have used these phones you also know you must return them in one piece or else pay a price. So some crafty crafter designed a case made especially for these devices. It's simple. You can clip it to your backpack. And really, why not?


2. Disney Inspired Candles ($35.00)

Shhh, listen. Do you smell something?

Can the smells of Disney be captured in a can? I dunno, but I wouldn't mind finding out. This collection of five candle scents includes:

I'm really glad there is no Turkey Leg option.


3. The Alphabet by Pixar ($15.00)

A, B, C, D, E, F, G...

Why not have some fun while you teach your kids the alphabet? Plus, the alphabet represented by Pixar is a fun way to brainwash introduce your kids to all the characters.

*Note* I was a little confused why Woody was under the S box, but I looked up the legend and he is representing "Sheriff Woody". Um, ok I guess. It's too cute a print to argue about it.

Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, A Work Inspired Disney Etsy Collection

While Karen soaks up the summer rays on her vacation in Maine, I am getting settled into a new job.

I know, unfair. Right?

I forgot how hard it is to get settled-- usernames and passwords must be committed to memory, a new computer must be configured, and most importantly a new desk must be decorated. After my first full week, I have finally remembered most of my log-ins but my office space remains sparse. So I thought I would use this opportunity as an excuse to start decorating.

For your mouse: I currently have a lame mouse pad. It's gray and boring and needs an update. So why not trick out your mouse pad with a Haunted Mansion inspired design. $11.88

Following the leader, the leader, the leader...

For your Disney Countdown: Lets face it. We work so we can play. And everyone needs some motivation. Remind your colleagues how many days until you say "later suckers. I'm out" (wait, am I the only one who says that to my co-workers before going on vacation?) with this vintage Disney chalkboard.

My countdown would say "45 days bitches"

There are so many fun ways to make your office space less, well, "Office Space". Just don't touch my stapler, or I may burn this mother to the ground.

Etsy Disney Finds - It's Craft-o-licious

It's about time for another Disney Etsy (and sometimes Ebay) round up. There are so many great original items out there for unique gifts, special occasions, or just because. This is just a small sampling to get you in the crafting groove.

1. For your work commute this Fall. If you live anywhere on earth, you are probably sweltering in the heat and not thinking about hats. Well before you know it, the temp will change and we will be looking for the perfect Fall hat. The crochet Mickey hat below comes in both adult and children sizes. I double dog dare you to rock this on your work commute. $15

2. For your next beach party. More summer appropriate is this super cute Mickey and the gang skirt made from bed sheets. You heard me. Bed Sheets!!!! I am now wishing I saved my Little Mermaid sheets as they would have made a killer sarong. $45

3. For the office. I love office supplies. But I love them more when they are super cool with a Disney theme. Check out these retro comic book pencils. Almost too cute for actual use. At $11.60 for 5 you can save them to write down important Disney-only notes.

4. For the wall. I see this vintage monorail poster hanging in the family room, office, or kids room. It's cute. It's retro. It's only $5.95

*special note* And finally, we really want to do another give-away. This time for the Cinderella notebook that we found on Etsy a few months ago (see picture below). Turns out, we were the very first customer for this aspiring artist/ Etsy merchant! She even tweeted how sad she was to see the notebook go. Just goes to show how much heart goes into some of these pieces and it's why we love this little showcase. Just try to find that amount of merchandise pride at Target.

Crafty Wednesday (or Friday) - For the Disney Bride

It's Friday and I was supposed to get this up on Wednesday. So lets just say it's "Wedfriday". Besides, crafts don't care what day of the week it is. They are crafty all week long.

Here's goes my Disney Bride inspired finds...

I got married at Disney (see part one of my wedding below if you don't believe me). I feel like I say that a lot and to a whole mix of reactions. There is a "wow" -- as in "wow, that is really weird". There is the "WOW!" -- as in "WOW! I am so jealous I didn't think of it." And everything in between.



No matter the reaction, I know it was an awesome decision and for any future Disney bride, ignore the haters. Let your Disney Bride flag fly. Some crafty finds to help you make your special day even more... well, special.

For your shoes: Sparking Mickey "I DO" stickers for the sole of your shoes ($6.99). In case you can't say it loud enough, you can just kick up your heels. There are loads of colors to chose from but I think the subtle silver sparkles are nice.

A cheat sheet just in case you forget your line.

For your wall: Never forget your anniversary date with a Mickey inspired anniversary date wall art. ($10.00 - cheap because its a digital file, nothing is printed. You get the file and have it printed someplace else)

For the Wedding Guests: You know you need wedding favors, but you also need something to put those favors in. These "Happily Ever After" bags might be cooler than the actual favor inside ($22.00 for 20)

It's Wednesday Ya'll - Lets Craft This Place Up Disney Style

It's Wednesday which means I am typing this from my craft room. And by craft room I mean desk with some pens and tape on it. I am not crafty, but thankfully other people are. Here is a round-up of this weeks best of Crafty Wednesday, Disney Style:

For Your Closet: How ridiculously cute is this dress? Bust this out at a children's party, a rehearsal dinner outfit for your wedding at Disney, or just work it on a hot summer day around the park. $150 because it's one-of-a-kind.

Disney Etsy Finds - It's Wednesday, Lets Get Crafty Ya'll

I like to blog about Disney merchandise partnerships (See: LeSportsac, Louboutin, and more). Corporate partnerships are great, but who doesn't love something Disney related both fabulous and handmade? Its time for Wednesday's Disney Etsy round-up.

For the home: At $38.00 these retro 1971 Disney map drink coasters are sure to be a conversation piece for the coffee table. Personally, I think I would always claim Adventureland for my cocktail.

For the bride to be: I got married at Disney. Video proof is here. I did not, however, think of this for my wedding invites and I am kicking myself. Save the date fast passes are step one for the Dream Disney wedding. Cinderella coach not included.

For the office: Before Twitter and Facebook people actually wrote things down. Sometimes I like to get all old school crazy and bust out a notebook (the gasps I get in meetings when I reveal a pen and paper-- wait until they see my encycolpedia and typewriter). If you must use paper, keep it hipster with a Moleskine notebook, complete with Disney princess artwork.
